Movie Review Thursday - Edge of Tomorrow
I noticed this was on everyone's talking space for quite some time, yet it's not exactly a exclusive movie title to throw a review together. That being said however this was a different sense of movie role that you've recently seen Tom Cruise perform before. I say that because it's been classed as similar as the Source Code starring Jake Gyllenhaal which they are correct as it is slightly similar.
If you want the plot to be summed up easily then I will try my best Edge of tomorrow is a sci-fi war film with "Groundhog Day" like premise: Cruise plays a soldier who, after being killed in combat, awakens the day before the battle and must relive, over and over, the moment of his death. Yet the movie hidden behind "Edge of tomorrow" isn't "Groundhog Day" But rather, "Saving Private Ryan." The Terrifyingly gory opening sequence of Steven spielbergs film the landing at omaha beach poses a fundamental question about war: If the D Day combat had been reported in real time in detail, if the uncensored newsreel footage that it generated played like spielberg's realistic scene with it's dissembled limbs, dangling viscera, incinerated bodies, cries of agony, scattered corpse, and waves of blood would the public have tolerated the pursuit of the war until the enemies surrender? And would sufficient numbers of American men have fought in it Willingly?
Without watching it for yourself you can only have that explanation for yourself. It's a great film holds no barrier of expectation within the mind with this movie. I must make a key point though you must watch everything otherwise you could lose the plot a little. That being said if you do find to lose yourself it does all explain all near the end of the film. Emily Blunt is remarkably beautiful and plays a key role in the film. I'm not going to dig deep into what she brings towards the movie as her role within the movie is slightly important as the movie goes on. The partner between Cruise and Blunt was pretty flawless. They had some on screen chemistry and made it light hearten with their one lined witty comments.
If you are seeking a action packed sci-fi movie then this is definitely your kind of movie. I say that because you find yourself being on this action packed thrill riding journey. You want to know more, find out more. You find yourself at the edge of your seat throughout the movie. It's such a great movie I would recommended
everyone to go see it if they haven't already.
Edge of tomorrow is less of a time travel movie than an experience; that statement might not make sense now, but it probably wil
l once you've seen it, if you have then this would make sense a little. This movie is based on the novel by Hiroshi Sikurazaka's which is named "All You Need Is Kill", its a true science fiction film, highly conceptual, set during the aftermath of an alien invasion. That being said it was a great piece of visual graphics and unusual scenery. Edge of tomorrow directed by Doug Liman who was famous for Mr & Mrs smith, Bourne Identity, Jumper etc. You've got a brief understand of what this director wants his scenes to be like. Action packed. Thrilling. Exciting.
